Project Description
Saint-Gobain is a French multinational group, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of lightweight, sustainable building materials (owning renowned brands such as Gyproc and Vinh Tuong). To strengthen its storage capacity and supply chain in the southern region, the Gypsum Warehouse project in Binh Duong was carried out under specialized technical standards. VIETTOP Construction passed rigorous evaluation rounds to become the contractor, delivering a high-quality warehouse facility that fully meets international operational and safety standards.
Project Requirements
- Absolute waterproofing and moisture control: Gypsum is extremely sensitive to water and humidity. The entire roof system, enclosing walls and drainage system must be built watertight, eliminating 100% of the risk of leaks and water splash during storms.
- High-load industrial flooring: The stacking of heavy gypsum pallets and the continuous operation of forklifts require a concrete floor system that can bear heavy loads, with an ultra-flat, abrasion-resistant surface.
- Optimized storage space: The steel structure must achieve a large span with as few intermediate columns as possible, creating open space for racking layouts and the circulation of motorized vehicles.
- Compliance with the EHS safety system: Strict compliance with Saint-Gobain’s global occupational safety and environmental standards, aiming for the goal of “Zero Incident”.
Our Approach
- Multi-layer protective roofing and cladding: High-standard roofing and wall solutions using Panel/Metal sheets were applied. VIETTOP carried out extensive water tests across the entire roof surface before acceptance to ensure the interior stays dry at all times.
- Specialized factory flooring techniques: Large-volume concrete pouring combined with power-troweled polishing and the use of a surface hardening admixture (Floor Hardener). This method keeps the floor free of fine dust, easy to clean and excellent at resisting wheel tracks.
- Structural construction risk management: A detailed Lifting plan was prepared for the erection of the steel roof trusses. A safety supervision (HSE) network was on duty 100% of the working-at-height time, with strict Permit to Work approval every shift.
Project Results
- Safe and on-time handover: The project crossed the finish line successfully in 2022 with a perfect occupational safety record, fully meeting the Client’s schedule for putting the facility into operation.
- Optimal product quality protection: The new warehouse operates smoothly, maintaining a dry, well-ventilated storage environment that fully protects the mechanical properties of Saint-Gobain gypsum products before they leave the factory.
- A solid infrastructure foundation: The spacious warehouse and sturdy floor optimize logistics operations, demonstrating VIETTOP Construction’s commitment to lasting quality.
